Chopperline Flight Training has recognized and responded to the urgent need for a school in Queensland to provide quality helicopter INSTRUMENT RATING TRAINING, including IREX theory.
As the Australian aviation industry matures and the number of modern IFR capable helicopters increases, the requirement for pilots with instrument rating qualifications will undoubtedly increase as the fleet expands at 8% pa.
Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) operations are rapidly becoming more sophisticated. This is also the case with other rescue, law enforcement and customs operations. These operations, along with traditional off-shore oil and gas support and exploration activity both in Australia, PNG and Asia, are demanding more IFR qualified crew to overcome shortages now occurring.
CASA’s requirements for an IFR school are very stringent in respect to facilities, training aids, and aircraft and particularly the quality and experience of the instructional staff. In fact, instructors who meet the CASA requirements for background and experience are difficult to find. Chopperline Flight Training is very fortunate to have two senior instructors on staff, including the Chief Pilot and CFI, who more than meet CASA’s regulatory requirements and standards.
W are now able meet market demand demonstrated by our investment in new, state of the art facilities. These include a sophisticated IFR panel in our H269CBi trainer with an IFR GPS; and a top quality GeoSim Category B Helicopter Simulator at our flying school.
The new simulator is state-of-the-art. CASA has approved up to 20 hours for the Command Instrument Rating Course, as well Instrument Rating Renewal flight tests. The Simulator is based on an IFR Bell 206 JetRanger, which is the aircraft used for the initial single engine Command Instrument Rating flight test at our school. Night VFR and familiarisation training will also be conducted in the GeoSim simulator. It is a very valuable and cost effective tool in this regard and supplements the existing CASA syllabus requirements.
We feel strongly that as the utilisation of the simulator increases, the industry will quickly appreciate the cost-effectiveness of this remarkable technology.
At Chopperline Flight Training we are very proud of the facility we have developed.
WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR LATEST EQUIPMENT WHICH CAN BE USED FOR NIGHT VFR,
PIFR, COMMAND INSTRUMENT AND CO-PILOT INSTRUMENT RATING TRAINING!
FULL TIME THEORY IREX TRAINING IS NOW AVAILABLE.
Industry pilots and prospective students are most welcome to tour and inspect our facilities. We are happy to demonstrate our latest capabilities and let you experience the simulator. Details of our IREX and IFR course schedules and associated costs are available on request.
