The Australian Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) qualifies graduates to work as a pilot anywhere in Australia and internationally, provided the aircraft flown is Australian registered. This licence is the minimum requirement for job opportunities within the tourism and mustering industries, which are a sound starting point for any new aviator. Aircraft type and endorsement restrictions apply.
At Chopperline, we recommend completion of the theory component of the course before commencing flight training. This will enable students to focus on the practical side of the training with minimal disruptions.CPL Option 1: 105 flight hours in Robinson R22 helicopter
This course is conducted in-house at Chopperline’s Caloundra base and uses industry standard course material. The duration of the course is nine weeks and covers all seven subjects required by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
CPL Option 2: 85 flight hours in a Robinson R 22 Helicopter and 20 flight hours in a Robinson R44
Again, this course is conducted in-house at Caloundra, utilising the same course material. There are advantages to incorporating the R44 into the training package. The inclusion of the R44 in training provides experience in an additional aircraft type and can increase employment prospects (especially in the tourism industry) compared with someone who has only completed the bare minimum R44 endorsement of 3 hours.
COURSE INCLUSIONS
